Start Everest base camp trek from Phaplu to explore more villages in lower Khumbu. This route is best solution for being bad weather in Lukla. Sometime several days cannot operate flights from Kathmandu to Lukla. We manage trip to Everest base camp trip via Phaplu in best price. Normally Everest base camp trek takes 12 days via Lukla but if you start via Phaplu to Everest base camp, it takes 15 days.

Phaplu and Salleri is administrative area of Solukhumbu district. We use jeep from Kathmandu to Phaplu, now can drive further to Ringmu. The road is extending up to Kharikhola. You will enjoy the frequently switch back road and beautiful landscape. Ringmu is a Sherpa village where joins classic route Jiri – Everest. That classic route was used for trekking and Everest expedition for several years. From Ringmu, trail ascends to Takshindu and descends Dudhkoshi River. You will explore mountains, monastery, village and terrace fields. Popular villages are Ringmu, Takshindu, Nunthala, Jubhing, Paiya, Surke and Chaurikharka. The trail from Lukla joins the route in Cheplung, can see many trekkers on the trail.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft), transfer to hotel

Welcome to Nepal Himalaya, we meet in Kathmandu airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. Ace Hiking offers welcome dinner in an authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at hotel, dinner included.

Day 2Drive from Kathmandu to Ringmu (2,700 m / 8370 ft) Duration: 10 - 11 hours

We get jeep in the morning to reach Phaplu and further drive to Ringmu. The road follows the Sunkoshi River and then switch backs up and down. Our first cool overnight will be at Ringmu, Sherpa village.

Day 3Ringmu to Jubhing (1,800 m / 5,580 ft) Distance: 11 km / 7 miles, Duration: 5 – 6 hours

Our trail ascends to the Mountain View hill. After short walking, the trail passes the old Sherpa monastery. Takshindu is the village of Babu Chhiri Sherpa, famous Everest climber. The trail descends through a conifer and rhododendron forest. We will reach Nunthala after crossing a picturesque stream. Nunthala is a village having many lodges and shops. From Nunthala, trail continues descends to Dudhkoshi River. We have to cross river and climb steeply to Jubhing for overnight.

Day 4Jubhing to Paiya (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) Distance: 11 km / 7 miles, Duration: 5 – 6 hours

Today we walk through Kharikhola, Magar and Sherpa village. After Kharikhola, trail ascends to Bupsa and then Kande. After crossing a stream by wooden bridge, we reach Paiya village.

Day 5Paiya to Ghat (2,630 m / 8,580 ft above sea level) Distance: 12 km / 8 miles, Duration: 5 – 6 hours

We walk through Paiya and Chheubash village and trail descends to Surke. There is junction way, right one is for Lukla and left one is for directly Namche. We hike continue up to Chaurikharka village. The trail from Lukla joins the route in Cheplung, can see many trekkers on the trail. We cross Thado Koshi. We get Ghat for overnight.

Day 6Ghat to Namche bazar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) Distance: 13 km / 9 miles, Duration: 6 – 7 hours

This day, we will trek from Ghat through Phakding, Monju, ending up in the big and beautiful town Namche Bazaar. The trekking trail follows along the Dudhkoshi River and enters into Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the bridge over Dudhkoshi River at the junction of Dudhkoshi River and Bhotekoshi River, the trail leads all the way up to Namche. There are many big lodges, hotels and restaurant, bakery cafe, book shop, trekking shop, souvenir shop, internet, communication, post office, laundry service, massage center, airline sales agent, Monastery, Museum, National Park Headquarter, Police office, Army post, Commercial Bank, Helipad etc. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 7Acclimatization day, Hike to Syangboche and back to Namche Bazaar, Duration: 4-5 hours

Acclimatization is important before proceeding to higher places. Most trekkers spend two nights in Namche. We may not feel bored, can visit Hotel Everest View located in Syangboche, for panoramic Mountain View including Mt. Everest. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 m / 12,664 ft) Distance: 10 km / 6 miles, Duration: 5 - 6 hours

The day begins with an easy flat walk. The way is full of beauty filled with panoramic mountains, hills, villages, forest, rivers and religious artifacts. Tengboche is located at 3,860 meters / 12660 feet above sea level. After reaching Tengboche, we may visit a very popular big monastery. Every morning and evening many Monks chant and pray in the monastery so we can join and observe activities. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 9Tengboche to Dingboche (4,380 m / 14,370 ft) Distance: 9 km / 5.5 miles, Duration: 5 - 6 hours

Today we will walk down through rhododendron forest to Diboche village. After crossing the Dudhkoshi river by suspension bridge, the trail gradual rises up to the Pangboche village, Somare village and finally to the big Dingboche village. We can see many mountains including Mt. Everest and charming views with the identical shape of Mt. Amadablam. Today we cross tree line but local people grow potato, buckwheat, barley and some vegetable in Dingboche. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 10Acclimatization day

This is another day for acclimatization. We will walk up hill along the ridge and can view Mt. Makalu, many other mountains, Chhukung village, Imja valley and beautiful landscape. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 11Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910 m / 16,109 ft) Distance: 7 km / 4.5 miles, Duration: 5-6 hours

We will walk mostly flat way up to Thugla. From Thugla, the trail is steep up for an hour and another one hour flat way to Lobuche. Lobuche village lies on the lap of Lobuche peak with wonderful views of mountains. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 12Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,923 ft) then back to Gorakshep (5,170 m / 16,962 ft) Distance: 16 km / 10 miles, Duration: 7-8 hours

Today will take longer time to reach our destination because of hiking in high altitude. The initial easy trail from Lobuche leads us to Gorakshep. After reaching Gorakshep, we will have a short rest, have some food, then we will proceed further for our ultimate destination of Everest base Camp. The trail to Everest Base Camp runs through rocky dunes, moraines and glacial debris. Today we will see Khumbu glacier, Khumbu icefall with many taller mountains. We have to return back to Gorakshep. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 13Trek to Kalapattar (5,550 m / 18,209 ft) then trek to Pheriche (4,270 m / 14,009 ft) Distance: 16 km/10 miles, Duration: 7-8 hours

We will start hiking before down to Kalapathar for glorious magnificent views with sunrise over Mt. Everest. Kalapathar is the best and closest view point to capture amazing pictures of Everest and Khumbu (Mahalangur) Himalaya range. We will be back at Gorakshep for breakfast and head down to Pheriche. We will feel easier and comfortable for walking down. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 14Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,286 ft) Distance: 20 km/12.5 miles, Duration: 7-8 hours

We are heading back down through Tengboche to Namche even though we have to walk up hill. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 15Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840 m / 9,318 ft) Distance: 19 km/12 miles, Duration: 6 - 7 hours

We will trek to Lukla, passing through several local villages. Today is our last night in the mountains. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 16Morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, Day time free

We will fly back to Kathmandu, and you will be transferred to your hotel. You are free for rest after conquering the Himalayas. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.

Day 17Kathmnadu Valley Sightseeing

Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour will start after breakfast. We will visit four UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Heritage site tour includes the Pashupatinath temple, Boudha Stupa, Swoyambhu stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will get the opportunity to observe historical, religious and cultural aspect of Nepal. You will also see Nepalese architecture containing palaces, buildings, temples, Stupas, carving, mason and metal work. After the tour we will back to hotel. Ace Hiking offers a farewell dinner in an authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast and dinner included.

Day 18Departure to international airport

Today you grab last minute shopping or other activities. We will drop you at the Kathmandu international airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight. We will say goodbye with happy memories and hoping to see you again. Breakfast included.
