Tamang Heritage and Langtang trek is an exciting trek through off the beaten Tamang village of the Nepal Himalayas. This trip offers to experience culture and every-day activities of the Tamang people in Himalaya. Tamang are local ethnic people of the Langtang region. The trail passes through the Tamang village, farmland, beautiful landscapes, meadows, rhododendron forests and Mountain View.

Tamang Heritage and Langtang trek starts from Syabrubesi and leads to Tamang traditional villages; Gatlang, Chilime, Tatopani, Thuman, Briddim and Khanjim. Trekkers get the warm welcome by Tamang people and can experience of the age old culture and hospitality of the Tamang community. In Tamang heritage trail trekkers can observe Syabru dance, Khampa dance, Shaman dance and other traditional dance performance during major festivals like in Tamang Lhosar (New Year).

After Tamang Heritage Trail, we enter to Langtang Valley. Following our route map, we pass the Langtang village and also climb Kyanjing Ri (shorter hike) or Tserko Ri (longer hike) for excellent sunrise views over the Langtang range. The Langtang valley was once an important trading route to Tibet. We can still see the influence of Tibet in the rich local culture. The Langtang Valley Trek passes through ‘Langtang Village’ which was compleately destroyed by the devastating earthquake of 25th April, 2015.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft above sea level), transfer to hotel

Welcome to Nepal Himalaya, we meet in Kathmandu airport and will be transferred to your hotel. Ace Hiking offers welcome dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at hotel, dinner included.

Day 2Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing

Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour will start after breakfast. We will visit four UNESCO world heritage sites. Heritage site tour includes the Pashupatinath temple, Boudha Stupa, Swoyambhu stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will get opportunity to obsearve historical, religious and cultural aspect of Nepal. You will also see Nepalese architecture containing palaces, buildings, temples, Stupas, carving, mason and metal work. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.

Day 3Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550 m / 5,085 ft) 7-8 hours

We get bus in the morning for Syabrubesi. The road frequently switches back up and down. Syabrubesi is popular junction point for many routes. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 4Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2,238 m / 7,342 ft) 4-5 hours

The trail is steep up to the Rongga Bhanjyang, a Mountain View point. After Rongga Bhanjuang the way is all the way flat along the road to Gatlang. Gatlang is typical Tamang village but after the earthquake the scenario of the village has changed. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 5Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2,607 m / 8,550 ft) 6-7 hours

Today we hike down to Chilime River. After crossing that river, trail heads up to Paragang. After Paragang village way is easier, gradual up to Tatopani. Tatopani means hot water. There was natural hot spring. Now there is not hot spring after the earthquake. But Tatopani village is still very beautiful with Mountain View. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 6Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2,338 m / 7,670 ft) via Brimdang and Nagthali, 6 hours

We have to climb Nagthali hill at the height of 3165 m / 10384ft. Nagthali offers panoramic Mountain View from the grassland. Porbably we will reach there at lunch time. After having lunch, trail descends to Thuman via rhododendron forest. Thuman is a big Tamang village. Sometime we get opportunity to observe Saman tradition. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 7Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2,230 m / 7,316 ft) 5-6 hours

Today we have to walk down to Bhotekoshi River. After crossing the Bhotekoshi River by suspension bridge, the trail ascends to the Bridim. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8Trek from Bridim to Lama Hotel (2,470 m / 8,170 ft) 6 hours 6-7 hours

Today’s most part of the trail is flat and up with short down. We will pass the villages like Khanjim, Sherpagaun and Rimche. Rimche is junction point for Langtang Valley Trek. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 9Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,430 m / 11,253 ft) 6-7 hours

The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens. We will pass a few settlement, forest, green meadows and Nepal Army camp, now no more Army there after the earthquake. Langtang village was collapsed by 2015 devastating earthquake. There is new settlement above the old Langtang village. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 10Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m / 12,697 ft) 4-5 hours

We will hike to Kyanjin Gompa through Mundu village. The trail is gradual up decorated by prayer wheels, Chortens, Stupas, Mani walls, prayer flags and glimmering mountains. Gompa means monastery; Buddhist temple but it was destroyed by earthquake probably will build soon. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 11Explore Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m / 15,660 ft) 4-5 hours or Tserko Ri (4,984m / 16,352ft) 7-8 hours

Today we can explore around the valley. There are many options: shorter climb to Kyanjin Ri, longer climb to Tserko Ri, or explore the valley following head of Langtang River. The sun rise and Mountain View is superb from Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 12Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,470 m / 8,170 ft) 5-6 hours

Today we trek down to Lama Hotel. Most of the trekking trail is downhill as we pass through forests and beautiful villages. We will feel easier to descent. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 13Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1,550 m / 5,085 ft) 4-5 hours

We continue retrace our step to Syabrubesi. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 14Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft) 7-8 hours

After breakfast we take bus for Kathmandu. Ace Hiking offers farewell dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at hotel, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 15Departure to international airport

Today you grab last minute shopping or other activities. We will drop you at the Kathmandu international airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight. We will say goodbye with happy memories and hoping to see you again. Breakfast included.
