The Everest Base Camp and Cho La Pass Trek aims to explore the high mountains, Sherpa culture, Buddhist religion, geography, flora, and fauna of Sagarmatha National Park. The Everest region is the home of Sherpa people and a geographically unique region. During this trip, we will pass many Sherpa villages where we will have the opportunity to learn about their daily activities, people, and culture.
Along the way, we will see Buddhist monuments, prayer flags, stupas, chortens, monasteries, temples, prayer wheels, and memorial places. First, we will reach Everest Base Camp, and then our trail will divert to the beautiful Gokyo valley. By merging the natural beauty of the Himalayas and the cultural ethos of the local Sherpa community, this trek creates unforgettable memories for a lifetime.
The EBC and Cho La pass trek starts with a thrilling and adventurous short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. During the trek, we will explore the UNESCO world heritage site, Sagarmatha National Park, and pass through several villages, suspension bridges, rivers, and forests before reaching Kalapathar at 5,550 m / 18,210 ft. Kalapathar is the best viewpoint for Mount Everest and panoramic mountain views. We will also have an acclimatization day in Namche and Dingboche to ensure a successful trip.

We will be transferred to the airport to fly to Lukla. We may enjoy the views from the airplane windows; the Lukla flight is quite fascinating. We will start easy hiking to Phakding. We can see beautiful mountain Kusum Kangaru from Thadokoshi village. We will see beautiful valley, Sherpa village, monastery, Chorten, prayer flags, Mani and a few mountains. Phakding lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley. Overnight at a guesthouse, breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.
This day, we will trek from Phakding through Monju, ending up in the big and beautiful town Namche Bazaar. The trekking trail follows along the Dudhkoshi River and enters into Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the bridge over Dudhkoshi River at the junction of Dudhkoshi River and Bhotekoshi River, the trail leads all the way up to Namche. There are many big lodges, hotels and restaurant, bakery cafe, book shop, trekking shop, souvenir shop, internet, communication, post office, laundry service, massage center, airline sales agent, Monastery, Museum, National Park Headquarter, Police office, Army post, Commercial Bank, Helipad etc. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Acclimatization is important before proceeding to higher places. Most trekkers spend two nights in Namche. We may not feel bored, can visit Hotel Everest View located in Syangboche, for panoramic Mountain View including Mt. Everest. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
The day begins with an easy flat walk. The way is full of beauty filled with panoramic mountains, hills, villages, forest, rivers and religious artifacts. Tengboche is located at 3,860 meters / 12660 feet above sea level. After reaching Tengboche, we may visit a very popular big monastery. Every morning and evening many Monks chant and pray in the monastery so we can join and observe activities. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Today we will walk down through rhododendron forest to Diboche village. After crossing the Dudhkoshi river by suspension bridge, the trail gradual rises up to the Pangboche village, Somare village and finally to the big Dingboche village. We can see many mountains including Mt. Everest and charming views with the identical shape of Mt. Amadablam. Today we cross tree line but local people grow potato, buckwheat, barley and some vegetable in Dingboche. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
This is another day for acclimatization. We will walk up hill along the ridge and can view Mt. Makalu, many other mountains, Chhukung village, Imja valley and beautiful landscape. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
We will walk mostly flat way up to Thugla. From Thugla, the trail is steep up for an hour and another one hour flat way to Lobuche. Lobuche village lies on the lap of Lobuche peak with wonderful views of mountains. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Today will take longer time to reach our destination because of hiking in high altitude. The initial easy trail from Lobuche leads us to Gorakshep. After reaching Gorakshep, we will have a short rest, have some food, then we will proceed further for our ultimate destination of Everest base Camp. The trail to Everest Base Camp runs through rocky dunes, moraines and glacial debris. Today we will see Khumbu glacier, Khumbu icefall with many taller mountains. We have to return back to Gorakshep. We hike before down to Kalapathar for glorious magnificent view with sunrise over Mt. Everest. Kalapathar is the best and closer view point to capture amazing pictures of Everest and Khumbu (Mahalangur) Himalaya range. We will be back at Gorakshep for breakfast and head down to Dzongla. Today is supposed to be the hardest day of this trip. The Cho La pass is not itself difficult, but it is steep and involves a glacier part on the eastern side. We need to be careful as the trail is vertical and the rocks glazed by ice may cause trouble by making the trail slippery. The North West trail from Dzongla climbs through a rocky, some crevasses and icy trail. We reach on the top of Cho La passing a frozen lake. After the top, the way is vertical descends to the Dragnag. Descending also may not be easy because of icy trail and rocky. Dragnag village lies on the bottom of big cliff. We trek through the Ngozumpa Glacier to the mountain on the other side. Ngozumpa Glacier is the biggest glacier of Nepal. After crossing the glacier we reach Gokyo. It will be a short hike today. We can walk to the forth lake after lunch. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Early n the morning we hike to Gokyo Ri for mountain and Gokyo valley view. We return back to Gokyo and after breakfast, descend to Phortse Tenga. The last part trail is rhododendron and pine forest. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
We climb 1:30 hour to Mom La hill and easy walk to Namche Bazaar. After Namche Bazaar we continue hike down to Monju. Today we exit from the Sagarmatha National Park. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
We will trek to Lukla, passing through several local villages. We follow the Dudh Koshi River valley. Today is last night in the mountain. We may have last gathering with all trekking crew. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
We will fly back to Kathmandu, and will be transferred to your hotel. You are free for rest after conquering the Himalayas. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour will start after breakfast. We will visit four UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu. Heritage site tour includes the Pashupatinath temple, Boudha Stupa, Swoyambhu stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will get opportunity to observe historical, religious and cultural aspect of Nepal. You will also see Nepalese architecture containing palaces, buildings, temples, Stupas, carving, mason and metal work. After the tour we will back to hotel.
