Champadevi hiking is one of the stunning hiking into green woodland with Mountain View and Kathmandu valley view. We will see Ganesh Himal, Langtang range, Jugal, Dorjelakpa, Gaurishankar,  Rolwalling range, Annapurna range and Everest range.

Machhegaun is the place to begin of Champadevi day hiking where we are able to reach by means of automobile/van or by using bus. It takes approximately forty five minutes from old Bus Park. Shops and restaurants aren’t to be had on hiking trail so take a few cookies, fruits and drinking water.

We walk up approximately 3 hour from Machhegaun to attain on the top of Champadevi hill. On the top of hill, we are able to see numerous statue of God, Goddesses and a Buddhist monastery. After the Champadevi hill we walk down approximately two hours to Taudaha, take a short explore across the lake and return back to Kathmandu through vehicle.

Myth of Taudaha Lake

Taudaha is believed to be one of the oldest lakes of Kathmandu valley. It is believed to be the house of Karkotak Naga (the King of Serpent). Consistent with legends, primordial lake of Kathmandu valley become tired with the aid of Manjushree; he saw all of the serpents such as Karkotak Naga flowing out. Therefore, to stop them from leaving the valley, Manjushree is believed to have built this lake. It is said that during drought in the valley, Buddhist priests offered prayers to the Serpent King in the lake who sent forth rain to the valley. The lake covers an area of 43,030 sq meters and is presently 20 meters deep at the deepest point. Halting place for migratory birds, this is also popular for bird watching.
